Leave a gift in your Will

The Shakespeare Hospice offers outstanding palliative and end-of-life care to patients, their families and carers across South Warwickshire. Our reach extends beyond the traditional Hospice walls, providing expert support within our local community and patients own homes.

We know that making a Will is a very personal matter and that taking care of your loved ones is your number one priority. Many people like to leave a gift in their Will to the causes which are close to them. One of the most impactful ways you can support your favourite charities long into the future is by leaving a gift in your Will.

At The Shakespeare Hospice we are extremely grateful for any gifts made in Wills. We receive only 11% of our funding from the NHS. We wouldn’t be able to provide our free specialist services without the generous support of our local community. Any gift regardless of size, makes a huge difference to the care that our patients, carers and their families receive.

How to leave a gift to The Shakespeare Hospice

You can make a gift to The Shakespeare Hospice in the following ways:

A residuary gift which is the remainder of your estate after all other gifts and debts have been settled. That benefits both your family and friends and your charitable beneficiaries.

A pecuniary gift which is a cash lump sum. Your solicitor can index-link a cash gift to ensure the relative value stays the same over time.

A specific gift such as personal possessions which could include jewellery or furniture. Buildings, property and land can also be gifted along with shares or bank account contents.

You can make a gift to more than one charity and it’s a very cost-effective way to give as charities are exempt from inheritance tax.  Some people avoid paying inheritance tax altogether by leaving a  donation for everything over and above the inheritance tax threshold. A solicitor can help advise you further on this.

To include a gift in your Will to the Hospice your solicitor needs to use our full name “The Shakespeare Hospice”, our registered charity number: 1064091 and our registered address: The Shakespeare Hospice, Church Lane, Shottery, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 9UL.
