Supporting Learners

Thursday 14 November 2019

Our clinical teams work really hard to support ‘learners’ in many different stages of their education and development. Laura and Heidi pictured are student nurses at Coventry University, recently placed with us.

We have recently mentored Heidi (pictured right above), a nursing student during a 10 week placement alongside nurse associate student Laura (pictured left above) who spent a month at the hospice.  We continue to host students as part of their palliative care training programme.

  • Work experience students – from secondary schools, gaining valuable experience in preparation for health related careers

  • Student nurses working towards Registered Nurse qualification in adult nursing – this is university based degree level education

  • Trainee Nurse Associate students  (this is a 2 year apprenticeship / work based training which we are really pleased to be supporting by offering 4 week student placements)

  • Medical students from Warwick and Buckingham University, training to be Doctors.

We are really proud to be able to support and contribute to the education of so many ‘learners’. Spending time with the clinical teams provides valuable experience in palliative care, helping to develop communication skills and a holistic approach in their future careers.  It enables us to share our knowledge and skills with future health professionals.
