The Shakespeare Lions raise £2,500 to provide Fun Days for Young People

Thursday 14 March 2019

On Monday 4 March, the president of Shakespeare Lions Club presented a cheque to the Children and Young people’s services at The Shakespeare Hospice for £2,500, raised though a Santa Sleigh Collection.

The funds will be put towards new ‘Shakespeare Lions Fun Days”. These will include events for young people aged 16-24 who have life limiting illnesses and who access the Transitional Care Service at the Hospice.

Furthermore, they will include activities such as pantomimes or outdoor adventure days for children aged 5- 18 years who access the Hospice’s Children’s Bereavement Service and who are bereaved or facing bereavement due to a family member’s illness.

The Shakespeare Lions Club, based in Stratford on Avon celebrated 50 years of service to the local community in 2018.

Simon Page, president for The Shakespeare Lions said:

“We are delighted to continue our good relationship with Shakespeare Hospice.

It is fantastic that this money will go towards new Shakespeare Lions Fun Day events, which we hope will bring some joy to the young people.”

Alison Burford, Lead Children and Family Support Practitioner said,

“Thanks to the generosity of The Shakespeare Lions, we can provide some really exciting activities for the bereaved children and young people, allowing them to come together and have fun.

This will make an incredible impact on the children and young people we support and we will be presenting back to the Shakespeare Lions on how the events have gone.”
