Family Fun at the Fete

Tuesday 10 July 2018

There will be something for everyone at this year’s Shakespeare Hospice Summer Fete, which will be held on Saturday 14th July from 12:00pm - 4:00pm, in the grounds of the Hospice in Shottery, Stratford upon Avon. A host of live entertainment will be on offer, including a performance from a very special magician - as seen on Britain’s Got Talent - Mel Harvey.  Winnie-the-Pooh will also be making a guest appearance!

Mel Harvery, Britain's Got Talent Magician will be appearing at The Shakespeare Hospice fete!

Kids can take part in pony rides, craft activities, a treasure hunt and browse toy stalls.  A Punch and Judy Show will be performed throughout the afternoon and face-painting will also be available.

There’s plenty for grown-ups too, including a BBQ, our ever-popular plant and cake stalls, bottle tombola, cream teas, jewellery and craft stalls as well as our retail stalls featuring the very best vintage items.  There will also be complementary therapists on hand to give Reiki, massage and reflexology treatments, for a minimum donation of £5.  Visitors will also be able to buy tickets to race a duck or two at Stratford Rotary’s Shakespeare Duck Race, which takes place on Saturday 25th August.

Winnie-The-Pooh will be promoting Care for a Book, an event taking place at Stratford Town Hall on 21 July at 1pm-4.30pm, in aid of The Shakespeare Hospice and Springfield Mind. Visitors will be able to buy limited edition set of 6 Winnie-the-Pooh prints, new and second hand and antique books and have a chance to win signed books from well-known authors.  There will also be kids’ crafts, face-painting and more.

Adult entry is £1.00 (and free for children).  There is plenty of on-site free parking.

The Shakespeare Hospice Summer Fete, which is always popular with local folk, raises much needed funds for the Hospice. As the Hospice’s services are free of charge, and it only receives 7% towards its funding from the NHS, it relies on continued corporate and community support, which is critical to its survival.

Funds raised will be used wisely; for example, £100 will pay for two visits by Hospice at Home nurses to provide end of life care to patients in their own homes or one nurse on call overnight to support patients choosing to die at home.  Hospice at Home are a team of registered nurses and healthcare assistants with specialist training in palliative and end of life care. On call 24 hours a day, our team supports patients and their families in their home so they can remain with the people who are most dear to them.
