Volunteers celebrate with a Tea Party!

Tuesday 19 June 2018

On Friday 15 June, The Shakespeare Hospice held a vintage tea party at St. Andrews Church Hall as an annual celebration for Volunteers Week and to thank all its volunteers, current and former, for their valuable contribution throughout the year.

Amongst the 63 volunteers who attended were four of the original ten, longest serving volunteers who began their work with The Shakespeare Hospice in 1999.

Pictured above (left to right) are Beryl Dyke, Ileen Fisher and Jan Hyde who all completed the original training course at St Richards Hospice in Worcestershire nineteen years ago. Di Buckley, not pictured, was the fourth original volunteer who attended the event.

There was also an opportunity to present some of the volunteers with long-service awards, with a five-year award presented to Andrew Llewellyn, Photographer for the Hospice and Mari Rimel who received her ten years of service certificate.  Mari has been in several volunteer roles for the Hospice, including Bereavement Support for adults and children, Driving and as a Receptionist.

Carole Lomas, Voluntary Services Manager said,

“It was lovely to see so many of our volunteers and to have the opportunity to personally thank them for everything they have done for the Hospice.

The Hospice is always looking for volunteers to help, so if anyone would like to learn new skills or get some valuable work experience, please get in touch!”
