Samuel Ryder Golf Day drives a staggering £25,000 for The Shakespeare Hospice

A Samuel Ryder Pro-AM Golf event which took place at Stratford on Avon Golf Club on 12 June, included golfing amateurs and professional players with the aim to raise funds for The Shakespeare Hospice.  Teams included celebrities, top PGA Midlands professionals and golf enthusiasts from local clubs and businesses which all came together to take part in the BDR sponsored Samuel Ryder Pro-AM Golf Day.

A total 22 teams took part on the day, which began with a breakfast and chance to ‘Meet the Pro’ which was followed by the Shotgun start. Main Sponsor of the event, Stratford-based company BDR which offers business IT & Telecoms solutions had two teams out on the course and were thrilled that one of their teams, which teamed up with PGA professional, Simon Lilley were the overall winners!

The day ended with a dinner, prizes, a raffle and an auction.  There were some fantastic prizes including passes to the Ryder Cup in Paris, dinner at Marco Pierre Whites restaurant as well as stays at Bovey Castle and Gleneagles in Scotland. The day raised a fantastic sum for The Shakespeare Hospice of £25,000, which last year supported over 1000 patients and their families. The hospice relies on the generosity of their local community to raise £2 million each year to keep the vital and unique services running.

Caroline Lawrence, Fundraising Manager from The Shakespeare Hospice Fundraising Team said,

“The players have all given us very positive feedback from today and The Shakespeare Hospice wants to say a big thank you to our generous sponsors and all those that took part.

This will really help us to continue to support patients with life limiting conditions and their carers by providing a range of specialised services across South Warwickshire and the North Cotswolds.”
