Shakespeare Hospice thanks over 300 volunteers for their support

During Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), The Shakespeare Hospice would like to express its thanks to all the volunteers who generously give their time to help deliver first class services!

Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action (WCAVA) registered 2431 volunteers throughout 2016 and state that the economic value of volunteering in Warwickshire to be £1,906,800.

The Shakespeare Hospice provides palliative and supportive care to over 1000 patients and their families across South Warwickshire and the North Cotswolds, including Moreton in Marsh. The Shakespeare Hospice’s primary aim is to help more people and it’s incredible to think that approximately 330 volunteers support this aim.

The Shakespeare Hospice provides core services including a Day Hospice, Hospice at Home, Counselling and Family Support, and a unique Children and Young People’s Services, which supports bereaved children, young carers, and Transitional Care for 16-24 year olds with a life limiting illness. As the Hospice’s services are free of charge, and it only receives 7% towards its funding from the NHS, it relies on continued corporate and community support, which is critical to its survival.

Angie Arnold, Chief Executive at The Shakespeare Hospice said,

“Members of the community bring a wonderful diversity of skills which help The Shakespeare Hospice to address a growing need.

Volunteers form the backbone of our organisation and whatever role they choose, they can be confident in knowing that they are a vital element in assuring the Hospice delivers the highest quality of care and support to its patients and their families”.

The Hospice is always looking for volunteers to help, so if anyone would like to learn new skills or get some valuable work experience, they are asked to please email:
