A day in the life of...Jenny Cowin

Monday 20 February 2017

Jenny is our Community and Events Fundraiser.

On an average day, the first thing that Jenny does when she arrives is make a cup of tea, check her emails then looks at her calendar. There are often volunteers that come in to help the team with a variety of things from admin and counting money to booking in stalls for our Summer Fete and researching venues for events. Jenny works closely with our volunteers and they often help out at our events by marshalling, selling merchandise or setting up.

The next big project for Jenny is Let It Glow! It’s a big event for the hospice with over 300 people taking part in a night walk around Stratford Town Centre. This is taking place on Saturday 13th May. Prior to the event, Jenny needs to look at suitable routes, order in merchandise that can be sold on the night, look at any licenses that we may need and get lots of volunteers/staff involved for the night – just a few of the things she needs to consider when organising an event!

Jenny says “I love the variety my job brings and being able to work with and meet so many different people.” Just before leaving the office, Jenny has a last quick look at the website to see how many people have generously donated, signed up to an event or made an enquiry.

As well as working at the hospice, Jenny and the rest of the fundraising team have recently done a skydive which raised over £2,500 for The Shakespeare Hospice! To enquire about doing a skydive, contact Jenny on jcowin@theshakespearehospice.org.uk
