Each December, The Shakespeare Hospice at Home team support local families who will share their last Christmas with a loved one.
The Hospice at Home team provide care and support to patients who are in their last few weeks or days of life. This support enables those patients who wish to die at home to do so in comfort, in their own familiar surroundings with their loved ones nearby.
Our Hospice at Home team supports families 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including Christmas Day. The service provides vital support to the whole family at a time that can be extremely difficult for everyone involved.
Our Hospice at Home service prevents unnecessary admissions to hospital and also enables patients to come home from hospital for Christmas.
Families we have supported told us:
‘Thank you all so much for all you did for my dear husband, enabling him to be at home with us. The care and kindness you all showed was second to none and very much appreciated by him and by us.’
‘Sam wanted to stay at home, so Christmas could feel normal for the girls.’
‘Dad didn’t want to die in the hospital; it was such a relief when he came home to be with us.’
Over the Christmas period this year we expect to make 100 visits to local families at a cost of £100 each time. Please could you consider donating to our ‘Together at Christmas’ appeal to help us raise £10,000 to enable more patients to spend their last days at home with their family this Christmas?
To donate to the ‘Together at Christmas’ appeal online please click here
