Henley Golf Club Calendar
Monday 23 November 2015
At The Shakespeare Hospice we are very lucky to be supported by our local community, including through donations from individuals, businesses and social organisations.
One such organisation is Henley Golf Club. Over the years the members, through the club committee, have always looked to contribute to the local community wherever possible, particularly when choosing a charity to benefit from the fund raising activities taking place. The approach taken has been to look for the smaller charities that do not receive major funding from elsewhere and who appreciate and rely much more on contributions from sources such as Henley Golf Club. Having met with representatives from the Hospice and gained a good understanding of the work done, Henley have chosen The Shakespeare Hospice for the next year as recipients of contributions to their Captains Charity.
Alf Rourke, Henley Captain, explained that the Golf Club had just celebrated its 21st anniversary but has already established itself as one of the Midlands favourite places to visit for a host of reasons. The facilities cater for weddings, conferences and many other social and business functions as well as offering a testing and enjoyable round of golf.
When exploring potential fund raising activities, the Henley Captain’s wife Sandra, came up with the idea of producing a calendar similar to the one created by the WI a few years back. Interest and enthusiasm was quickly generated and arrangements were put in place to have photo shoots to cover the 12 months of the year. The work has now been completed and calendars are now printed and ready for sale.
The costs of producing the calendar have been very generously covered by the owner Ray Chamberlain ensuring that all proceeds from the sale of calendars will go directly to the Captains Charity and ultimately The Shakespeare Hospice.
Calendars are available through the Hospice’s retail outlet in Henley in Arden, at the Hospice reception and at Henley Golf Club for the price of £5.
